{"id":22284,"date":"2012-08-03T15:17:33","date_gmt":"2012-08-03T09:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22284"},"modified":"2012-08-03T15:17:33","modified_gmt":"2012-08-03T09:47:33","slug":"national-automatic-identification-systemnais-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/national-automatic-identification-systemnais-launched","title":{"rendered":"National Automatic Identification System(NAIS) launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre Government today launched the Rs 132 crore <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>National Automatic Identification System (NAIS),<\/strong> <\/span>which will ensure effective search and co-ordination besides broadcasting warnings to merchant ships in an effort to enhance maritime security.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Shipping Minister<span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> G K Vasan<\/strong><\/span> described the project as the &#8220;most important component of coastal surveillance,&#8221; and said it would go a long way in enhancing safe navigation along the 7,500-km long Indian coastline.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0He further said<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> &#8220;The NAIS is a set up connecting 74 AIS sensors installed on lighthouses along the entire coastline.
