{"id":22288,"date":"2012-08-04T10:51:38","date_gmt":"2012-08-04T05:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22288"},"modified":"2012-08-04T10:51:38","modified_gmt":"2012-08-04T05:21:38","slug":"permanent-lok-adalat-valid-its-decision-binding-sc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/permanent-lok-adalat-valid-its-decision-binding-sc","title":{"rendered":"Permanent Lok Adalat valid, its decision binding: SC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supreme Court<\/strong><\/span> on Friday upheld the constitutional validity of setting up of <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Permanent Lok Adalat<\/strong><\/span> and making its decisions binding on parties with the provision that they cannot be challenged in courts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A bench of <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>justices R M Lodha and Anil R Dave<\/strong><\/span> justified setting up of such bodies on the lines of\u00a0Lok Adalat for resolving disputes over public utility services saying <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>&#8220;with increasing number of cases, the judicial courts are not able to cope with the heavy burden of inflow of cases and the matters coming before them.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>\u00a0&#8220;With large population in the country and many public utility services being provided by various service providers, the disputes in relation to these services are not infrequent between the service providers and common man.
