{"id":22305,"date":"2012-08-04T16:27:49","date_gmt":"2012-08-04T10:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22305"},"modified":"2012-08-04T16:27:49","modified_gmt":"2012-08-04T10:57:49","slug":"anbumani-ramadoss-and-eight-others-got-bail-in-graft-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/anbumani-ramadoss-and-eight-others-got-bail-in-graft-case","title":{"rendered":"Anbumani Ramadoss and eight others got bail in graft case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Union Health Minister<span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> Anbumani Ramadoss<\/strong> <\/span>and eight others, accused in a <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>corruption case<\/strong><\/span> relating to the grant of illegal permission to a medical college to admit students, were on Saturday granted bail by a Delhi Court.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Special Judge Talwant Singh<\/strong><\/span> enlarged the nine accused on bail considering that they were not arrested during the CBI probe and have co-operated during the investigation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>\u201cKeeping in view that the accused persons have co-operated during the investigation and they were not arrested during the investigation and the charge sheet has already been filed&#8230;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>\u201c..and the material relied upon by the CBI has already been filed in the court, all the accused are entitled to bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with a surety of the like amount,\u201d<\/em><\/span> the court said.<\/p>\n<p>The former health minister is facing prosecution for allegedly granting permission to the college, which did not have sufficient faculty members or clinical infrastructure to run the course.<\/p>\n<p>PMK leader Anbumani\u00a0Ramadoss has been chargesheeted for allegedly abusing his official position in permitting Indore-based<span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> Index Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (IMCHRC)<\/strong><\/span> to admit students <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>without having sufficient faculty members and clinical infrastructure.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Besides Mr. Anbumani Ramadoss, the court granted bail to Cabinet Secretariat Director K V S Rao, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare\u2019s (MHFW) Section Officer Sudershan Kumar and Dr J S Dhupia and Dr Dipendra Kumar Gupta of Safdarjung Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Accused Dr S K Tongia, former dean of IMCHRC, Medical Director of the college Dr K K Saxena as also Nitin Gothwal and Dr Pawan Bhambani were also granted bail.<\/p>\n<p>Source: PTI<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and eight others, accused in a corruption case relating to the grant of illegal permission to a medical college to admit students, were on Saturday granted bail by a Delhi Court.
