{"id":22397,"date":"2012-08-07T16:32:45","date_gmt":"2012-08-07T11:02:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22397"},"modified":"2012-08-07T16:32:45","modified_gmt":"2012-08-07T11:02:45","slug":"tatra-scam-cbi-opposes-vectras-chief-foreign-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/tatra-scam-cbi-opposes-vectras-chief-foreign-trip","title":{"rendered":"Tatra Scam: CBI opposes Vectra\u2019s chief foreign trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Vectra company chief Ravi Rishi<\/strong> <\/span>visit to the United Kingdom for medical treatment for various ailments has been opposed by the CBI in the <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supreme court<\/strong><\/span> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Division bench of <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Justices Altamas Kabir and J. Chelameswar<\/strong><\/span> heard\u00a0 the case. In submission from CBI Additional Solicitor General Haren Raval asserted that the investigating agency was apprehensive that Mr. Rishi, if allowed to leave the country, would not return.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Rishi, is facing a CBI probe in connection with alleged irregularities in supply of Tatra all-terrain trucks to public sector BEML.<\/p>\n<p>The ASG stated that Mr. Rishi\u2019s alleged role in the deal and conduct during the investigation does not inspire confidence and his plea to travel abroad was only an <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u201cattempt to evoke the sympathy of this court\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The CBI placed before the bench various medical reports including sonography to state <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u201cthere is no danger\u201d<\/strong><\/span> to his health.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to certain queries from the bench, which was not convinced with the CBI\u2019s argument, the ASG maintained that there were certain facts which cannot be stated in an affidavit but can be disclosed in a sealed cover to the court.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>\u201cThere are certain things which we cannot put on an affidavit. I can disclose these things in a sealed cover to your Lordships as to what materials we have collected. He is the prime accused in the FIR, a central figure in all the documents of the investigating agency,\u201d<\/em> <\/span>Mr. Raval said.<\/p>\n<p>However, senior counsel for Mr. Rishi, Mukul Rohatgi rejected the allegations of the CBI and said it was only an attempt to \u201ccover up\u201d the role of the BEML in the entire episode.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u201cI am willing to keep my house in Delhi worth Rs. 100 crore as a surety\u201d,<\/strong> <\/span>Mr. Rohatgi said, while seeking permission for his client to travel abroad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vectra company chief Ravi Rishi visit to the United Kingdom for medical treatment for various ailments has been opposed by the CBI in the Supreme court on Tuesday.
