{"id":22426,"date":"2012-08-08T17:37:51","date_gmt":"2012-08-08T12:07:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22426"},"modified":"2012-08-08T17:37:51","modified_gmt":"2012-08-08T12:07:51","slug":"emu-farming-scam-8-booked-in-multi-crore-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/emu-farming-scam-8-booked-in-multi-crore-scam","title":{"rendered":"EMU Farming Scam: 8 booked in multi crore scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Emu farming scam<\/strong><\/span> eight persons, including owner of a popular private firm involved in Emu farming have been booked for allegedly cheating a large number of people, by promising lucrative returns on investments in commercial rearing of the bird.<\/p>\n<p>Acting on the complaints of a group of investors police has registered cases under <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 120B (conspiracy)<\/strong> <\/span>against Susi Emu Farms owner-cum Managing Director M S Guru and seven others.<\/p>\n<p>A special team is searching those eight persons, who are absconding, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The complainants had stated that they invested huge money in emu farming run by <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Guru<\/strong><\/span> who assured a monthly income of over Rs 6,000 per investor. However, the monthly payments dried up recently and the firm did not respond to their pleas about the non-payment.<\/p>\n<p>They claimed over 2,000 people have invested Rs 1.50 lakh each in the firm.<\/p>\n<p>An inquiry was launched by the district administration and the <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>District Revenue Officer and Revenue Divisional Officer<\/strong><\/span> are inquiring into the scam and conducted raids at the head office of the Susi farms located in Perundurai.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said some affluent people had also invested Rs 50 to Rs 70 lakh in the emu farming firm.<\/p>\n<p>They said steps were being taken to freeze the assets of the firm and also impound Guru&#8217;s passport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Emu farming scam eight persons, including owner of a popular private firm involved in Emu farming have been booked for allegedly cheating a large number of people, by promising lucrative returns on investments in commercial rearing of the bird.
