A cottage cheese trader has been sentenced to two years in jail by a Delhi court for critically injuring a fellow merchant in a fight over payment of dues.<\/p>\n
District Judge O P Gupta sentenced trader Anil Kumar of West Delhi for hitting cottage cheese supplier Bhagesh Chaudhary of Vikaspuri on his head and grievously wounding him.<\/p>\n
The court sentenced him after convicting for attempting to commit culpable homicide not amounting to murder.<\/p>\n
“I think that ends of justice would be met by sentencing the convict to imprisonment for 2 years,” the court said.<\/p>\n
The prosecution case dated back to September 15, 2010, when Chaudhary demanded from Kumar Rs 15,000 that he owed to the former for the cottage cheese supplied to him (Kumar).<\/p>\n
In his complaint to the police, Chaudhary said as he demanded the money, Kumar and two of his friends abused him and attacked him with a rod.<\/p>\n
The prosecution had sought stringent punishment for the convict, while the defence counsel had sought leniency saying the convict was merely 21-year-old at the time of the incident and has no criminal antecedents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
