Former Tourism Ministry official Nachiketa Kapur, arrested for allegedly securing a job with the 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee on basis of a forged educational certificate, was today granted interim bail by a Delhi court till September 20.<\/p>\n
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Gautam Manan granted bail to Kapur, who was arrested after his surrender before the court on September 15.<\/p>\n
He got the interim bail on the plea that he had to attend the last rites of his father who had died recently.<\/p>\n
“Keeping in view the facts that the father of the accused got expired on September 7, 2012, the accused is admitted to interim bail on furnishing a personal bond and surety bond in the sum of Rs 50,000 for two days…,” the ACMM said.<\/p>\n
Kapur was produced before the court after expiry of the police custody tenure.<\/p>\n
Public Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan sought extension of his custody for further interrogation in the case, lodged on July 30 on the allegation that he had managed to get a job in the CWG OC in July 2009 by using a fake degree of Delhi University showing him to be a 1994 graduate.<\/p>\n
The Delhi High Court had on September 11 dismissed Kapur’s anticipatory bail plea saying a proper probe was needed in the case.<\/p>\n
According to the police, Kapur was also employed with Tourism and Women and Child Welfare ministries and was also associated with the National Security Council.<\/p>\n
The Crime Branch of Delhi police had registered an FIR against Kapur under Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using the forged document) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC for his alleged role in the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
