In a huge relief to former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah, the Supreme Court on Thursday allowed him to go to Gujarat and transferred the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case from Gujarat to Mumbai.<\/p>\n
The apex court also categorically rejected the Central Bureau of Investigation’s plea to cancel Shah’s bail.<\/p>\n
Activist Teesta Setalvad welcomed the apex court’s decision to transfer the case from Gujarat. “The fact the case is shifted out of Gujarat is very significant. We just hope that critical witnesses are not intimidated by Amit Shah by using his connections.” said Teesta.<\/p>\n
Shah, who is accused in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case, had also been chargesheeted by the CBI in the Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court had restricted him from entering Gujarat while he was on bail in the Sohrabuddin case.<\/p>\n
Sohrabuddin Shaikh was allegedly killed in a fake encounter in November 2005 and his close aide Tulsi was killed in December 2006 by the same set of police personnel, who are presently behind bars for the killing of Sohrabuddin Shaikh and his wife Kauser Bi.<\/p>\n
Shah, accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, has been out on bail.<\/p>\n
