The Punjab and Haryana High Court Monday lifted the ban on collection of toll during peak morning and evening traffic hours on the busy Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. All vehicles passing through the toll plaza will now have to pay toll from Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
A division bench of the court lifted the ban while hearing the case here Monday.<\/p>\n
The high court had recently told the concessionaire, Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited, not to collect toll from private vehicles during peak traffic hours from 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The restricted ban on toll collection was imposed Sep 28.<\/p>\n
The bench told Haryana Police to ensure that no vehicle was allowed to take a U-turn at the toll barrier near Ambience Mall on the Gurgaon side. It directed police to issue tickets to motorists taking a U-turn at the toll plaza.<\/p>\n
The high court had Sep 4 imposed a complete stay on toll collection on all vehicles for 15 days. It later extended the ban twice.<\/p>\n
The toll collection was stayed following the failure of Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited to de-congest the busy expressway, which was seeing huge traffic jams due to the toll plaza.<\/p>\n
On Sep 20, the high court had allowed the concessionaire to collect toll from commercial vehicles.<\/p>\n
The high court was not impressed by the measures taken by the concessionaire to end traffic snarls and harassment of motorists at the toll plaza.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
