{"id":24012,"date":"2012-10-12T17:02:09","date_gmt":"2012-10-12T11:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=24012"},"modified":"2012-10-12T17:02:09","modified_gmt":"2012-10-12T11:32:09","slug":"court-issues-non-bailable-warrant-against-mallya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/court-issues-non-bailable-warrant-against-mallya","title":{"rendered":"Court issues non-bailable warrant against Mallya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">A city court in Hyderabad Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against business tycoon Vijay Mallya and five others in a cheque bounce case.<\/p>\n<p>The 13th Metropolitan Sessions Court issued the warrant against crisis-hit Kingfisher airlines in a case filed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), which manages the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.<\/p>\n<p>The case was filed in August by GHIAL after four cheques of Rs.10.3 crore issued by Kingfisher towards user charges bounced.<\/p>\n<p>The court issued the warrant after Mallaya failed to appear despite summons issued to him. The liquor baron reportedly sought exemption from personal appearance as he was abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The respondents in the case include Kingfisher, its chairman Mallya and CEO Sanjay Agarwal.<\/p>\n<p>Kingfisher had issued cheques to GHIAL towards airport user charges which include parking, landing and navigation charges.<\/p>\n<p>The crisis-hit airlines faces similar cases in Mumbai and Delhi after the airport operators moved the court over dishonoured cheques.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A city court in Hyderabad Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against business tycoon Vijay Mallya and five others in a cheque bounce case.
