National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairman K.G. Balakrishnan emphasised the need to set up more trial courts so that justice is not delayed.<\/p>\n
K.G Balakrishnan said, “The criminal justice system needs to be corrected to ensure speedy trial by setting up more courts. Steps should be taken to increase the number of police personnel in various parts of the country to expedite investigation and hearing for conviction of criminals”<\/p>\n
He was speaking at the National Human Rights Commission, Inter-Central Armed Police Forces Debate Competition on Human Rights.<\/p>\n
He said that only people with a narrow mind can say that national security would be compromised by respecting human rights.<\/p>\n
He stressed that despite the challenges that lie in the discharge of their duties; the security forces should not compromise with the rule of law or deny people human rights, since their role in the protection of human rights is well defined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
