A woman, who had strangulated her husband two years ago here allegedly to marry another man, has been awarded life imprisonment by a Delhi court.<\/p>\n
The court, however, acquitted the woman’s alleged paramour of the charges of murdering her husband Shivnath due to lack of evidence against him.<\/p>\n
District Judge O P Gupta also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on 32-year-old Paschim Vihar resident Sobha who had murdered her husband in December 2010.<\/p>\n
“I find that prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt against accused Shobha. She is held guilty and convicted under section 302 (murder) of the IPC,” the judge said.<\/p>\n
According to the prosecution, the police got an information that 35-year-old Shivnath was found dead in his bedroom on December 26, 2010 morning after which an FIR was lodged.<\/p>\n
The police said during investigation, when it questioned relatives of the deceased, it came to know that Shobha had confessed to have killed Shivnath in collusion with her friend Sunil Malik, a resident of Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n
The police said Shobha and Malik was arrested after they made disclosure statement about their involvement in the case.<\/p>\n
It said Shobha wanted to marry Malik but Shivnath came to know about her friendship with Malik after which she, along with her friend, hatched a plan to kill Shivnath.<\/p>\n
It said both the accused strangulated Shivnath after which Malik fled to Himachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n
During the trial, both the accused denied the allegations and claimed they have been falsely implicated.<\/p>\n
The court, however, after going through the evidence and the statement of witnesses, said the police has been able to establish that Shobha had killed her husband.<\/p>\n
