Two years of simple imprisonment has been given to a former banker under the\u00a0Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and imposed a fine of Rs. 13,000 by a special court of Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI)<\/p>\n
Special CBI Judge B.M. Angadi pronounced the verdict against S.Murali, the then Branch Manager at city’s Indira Nagar branch of the\u00a0Syndicate Bank.<\/p>\n
A charge sheet has been filled by the CBI against\u00a0Murali\u00a0and three others under sections 120-B r\/w 420, 468 471 IPC and Sec. 13(2) r\/w 13(1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.<\/p>\n
The allegations as per the charge sheet were that Murali, while working in\u00a0Syndicate Bank\u00a0in 1993, had entered into criminal conspiracy with the other accused in clearing cheques issued \/ drawn by them without sufficient funds in their account, and enabled them to get their property out of mortgage from nationalized banks.<\/p>\n
The accused persons caused a loss of about Rs.40 lakh to the Syndicate Bank.<\/p>\n
The trial court found Murali guilty and convicted him. The court acquitted one private person while other two died during trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
