{"id":27362,"date":"2013-03-23T11:14:53","date_gmt":"2013-03-23T05:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=27362"},"modified":"2013-03-23T11:14:53","modified_gmt":"2013-03-23T05:44:53","slug":"censor-board-not-doing-its-job-properly-delhi-hc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/censor-board-not-doing-its-job-properly-delhi-hc","title":{"rendered":"Censor Board not doing its job &#8216;properly&#8217;: Delhi HC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The censor board has been slammed by the Delhi High court for not\u00a0doing its job &#8220;properly&#8221; and asked it and the Centre to respond to two separate PILs alleging vulgar contents in Salman Khan-starrer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Dabangg-2\">Dabangg 2<\/a>\u00a0and Saif Ali Khan&#8217;s Race 2<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nowadays, the censor board is not doing its duty properly,&#8221; a bench comprising Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice VK Jain remarked while asking the information and broadcasting ministry,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/CBFC\">CBFC<\/a>\u00a0and producers of Dabangg 2 and<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Race-2\">Race 2<\/a>\u00a0to file their responses by May 14.<\/p>\n<p>While hearing the PIL of lawyer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Sanjay-Kumar\">Sanjay Kumar<\/a>\u00a0seeking a ban on a &#8220;provocative item number&#8221; of Dabangg 2, the bench ordered deletion of names from an array of parties like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Kareena-Kapoor\">Kareena Kapoor<\/a>\u00a0Khan, on whom the song was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/filmcity-media-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-6490.cms\" target=\"_blank\">filmed<\/a>, director\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Arbaaz-Khan\">Arbaaz Khan<\/a>\u00a0and musicians duo Sajid and Wajid.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Why you have made the actress a party? This is not a criminal complaint. File a fresh memo of parties. Delete the name of the actress, director and musicians &#8230;&#8221; Justice Jain asked during the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The bench, however, refused to stay the release of DVDs of Dabangg 2 and Race 2 and their further screening on TV channels. It, meanwhile, gave the petitioners liberty to approach it again if they receive information that the films are going to be shown on channels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are not experts and have not seen the movies. How can we stay the films on the basis of photographs we saw here?&#8221; the bench said.<\/p>\n<p>The other PIL, filed by social worker Teena Sharma, has sought an immediate ban on further screening of Race 2 in cinema halls and its telecast. It also sought deletion of explicit scenes and &#8220;vulgar&#8221; dialogues in the film.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, the bench said the censor board has become &#8220;very generous&#8221; nowadays and &#8220;passing or giving&#8221; certificate to every film without any objection.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nowadays, you have TV in each room of your house. We have now developed a culture that children sleep in a separate room and they are provided TV also &#8230; Parents don&#8217;t take their children to theatre with them now,&#8221; it said, adding the content of films should not be &#8220;degraded&#8221; and it should be such that the whole family can watch them together.<\/p>\n<p>One of PILs alleged &#8220;the lyrics of this famous song in Hindi film Dabangg 2, woman is compared to be a grilled chicken to be eaten up with alcohol!
