{"id":28117,"date":"2013-05-04T11:37:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-04T06:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=28117"},"modified":"2013-05-04T11:37:07","modified_gmt":"2013-05-04T06:07:07","slug":"bengal-govt-opposes-cbi-probe-into-chit-fund-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/bengal-govt-opposes-cbi-probe-into-chit-fund-scam","title":{"rendered":"Bengal govt opposes CBI probe into chit fund scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The West Bengal government\u00a0opposed a prayer for CBI investigation into the multi-crore chit fund scam, with the team of special investigation team,\u00a0headed by the Director general of West Bengal Police,\u00a0claiming in an affidavit to the Calcutta High Court that at this stage credibility of the investigation by the state police cannot be doubted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"story\">\n<p>&#8220;At this stage any direction for handing over investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would be premature,&#8221; the affidavit, submitted before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Joymalyo Bagchi, claimed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The police authorities have acted with promptitude commensurate to the urgency of the situation. There has been no laxity on the part of the state respondents in the matter of investigation,&#8221; according to it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The main accused persons have been arrested.
