Green signal to Kudankulam nuclear power plant has given by the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
A bench comprising Justices K S Radhakrishnan and Dipak Misra dismissed a PIL challenging the commissioning of the nuclear power plant on the grounds that adequate relief and rehabilitation coupled with safety measures are not in place.<\/p>\n
The petitioner had sought directions to the Centre and state of \u00a0Tamil Nadu to shift the nuclear plant out of the state.<\/p>\n
The petitioner said, the nuclear plant will not only damage the environment but would also cause heavy loss of life and property in case of an untoward incident.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court has laid down 15 guidelines to ensure adequate safety measures are in place and the damage in the surrounding areas is minimised.<\/p>\n
The apex court has also directed the authorities to see to it that criminal cases filed against those agitating against nuclear plant are withdrawn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
