A Delhi court today took cognizance of a supplementary charge sheet in the multi-crore ‘StockGuru’ scam case filed against an alleged agent of prime accused Ullhas Prabhakar.
\nChief Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Pandey also issued production warrants of accused Naresh Kumar alias Naresh Kharb to appear before it on August 30.<\/p>\n
Kharb, who was arrested in May, was named in the charge sheet for offences of forgery, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust under the IPC and Section 3, 4 and 5 of Prize Chit and Money Circulation (Banning) Act.<\/p>\n
Special Public Prosecutor Pramod Dubey said Naresh was one of the prominent agents working for Ullhas and Delhi Police had recovered Rs 4 crore from his house during a raid.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the court allowed the plea of accused Raksha J Urs, wife of Ullhas, to permit their 17-month-old daughter to stay with her in the jail.<\/p>\n
The main accused in the case, Ullhas, and Raksha, currently in judicial custody, were arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of Delhi Police on November 10 last year from Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.<\/p>\n
They are accused of duping around two lakh investors across seven states of nearly Rs 500 crore by promising them high returns through their firm M\/s StockGuru India, dealing in stocks.<\/p>\n
The court directed various banks, in which the accused couple had deposited their money, to convert the amount into FDRs.<\/p>\n
It also dismissed the accused couple’s plea for releasing the valuable, including jewellery, which was seized by the police during their personal search on the ground that they articles could be the cheated booty.<\/p>\n
Ullhas, 33, from Nagpur in Maharashtra and Raksha alias Priyanka, 30, from Mysore, allegedly assumed 14 different identities, seven each, police said.<\/p>\n
They had posed as doctors, investors, businessmen and ran several fraudulent firms to dupe people, police added.<\/p>\n
Police received 14,303 complaints in Delhi but during the probe, found that there were about 2,05,062 investors who had invested Rs 10,000 or more, adding up to a total of about Rs 493 crore, in StockGuru India.<\/p>\n
A case was registered in 2010 but the duo managed to evade arrest by hiding in Moradabad,\u00a0Dehradun, Alwar, Nagpur and Goa. Several cases have been registered against them in various cities.<\/p>\n
