{"id":30226,"date":"2013-09-16T17:00:05","date_gmt":"2013-09-16T11:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=30226"},"modified":"2013-09-16T17:00:06","modified_gmt":"2013-09-16T11:30:06","slug":"asarams-judicial-custody-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/asarams-judicial-custody-extended","title":{"rendered":"Asaram&#8217;s judicial custody extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Controversial godman Asaram Bapu, accused of sexually assaulting a minor, will remain in jail with a court here today extending his judicial custody by 14 days.<\/p>\n<p>Asaram and his aide Shiva were produced before the court of District and Session Judge where magistrate Manoj Kumar Vyas extended their judicial custody.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-two-year-old Asaram, who was arrested on September 1 for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl, requested the magistrate to allow his doctor to visit him in jail.<\/p>\n<p>However, the magistrate refused to comment on the issue in the absence of the defence counsel.<\/p>\n<p>Bapu&#8217;s counsel has a moved bail application in the high court, hearing on which is scheduled today. Asaram&#8217;s arrest followed an FIR filed by the girl alleging she was sexually assaulted by him at his Jodhpur ashram.
