The Supreme Court yesterday got its customised pin code number – 110201 – a step which will enable faster delivery of mail to the apex court.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the function where the customised pin code for the apex court was inaugurated, Chief Justice of India P. Sathasivam said the postal system should give importance to delivery of ordinary mail from villages as it was being modernised to keep pace with other means of communication.<\/p>\n
“Indian post should not lose sight of post card. Even now it is used in villages and the delivery of ordinary mail should receive same importance as others,” he said, adding that even today a large number of people were approaching the higher judiciary with their grievances by penning them on post cards.<\/p>\n
Noting that the customized pin code would speed up the delivery of mail at the Supreme Court, he asked Communications Minister Kapil Sibal to provide similar customised pin code to all the high courts particularly those located in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.<\/p>\n
Inaugurating the customised pin code for the apex court and the Locality Based Online Pin Code Search Directory for Delhi, Sibal said post offices were being modernised and all the post offices will be electronically connected.<\/p>\n
He said the customised pin codes would be given to organisations like the apex court, high courts, the Union Public Service Commission, defence organisations and others where there are bulk customers.<\/p>\n
