{"id":30463,"date":"2013-10-04T11:09:46","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T05:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=30463"},"modified":"2013-10-04T11:09:46","modified_gmt":"2013-10-04T05:39:46","slug":"compensate-dead-rajasthan-prisoners-kin-nhrc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/compensate-dead-rajasthan-prisoners-kin-nhrc","title":{"rendered":"Compensate dead Rajasthan prisoner&#8217;s kin: NHRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Thursday asked Rajasthan government to pay monetary relief of Rs.2 lakh to the next of kin of a jail inmate, who committed suicide during judicial custody in Bikaner jail.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The commission has also sought compliance report along with proof of payment within six weeks,&#8221; said a NHRC official.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Earlier, in response to the commission&#8217;s notices, the additional chief secretary, home department of Rajasthan government confirmed the incident and accepted the lapse of jail staff,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the state government does not have any objection for payment of monetary relief to the next of kin of the deceased, Suresh.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission took cognizance of the incident on an intimation received from superintendent at central prison in Bikaner about the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Suresh was serving sentence for life imprisonment for torturing and killing his wife.
