An order asking him to appear before the Commission has already been issued,\u201d Justice (retd) Sushanta Chatterjee who is heading the Commission told <i>The Hindu<\/i> on Saturday. Mr. Bhattacharjee was the State\u2019s Information and Cultural Affairs Minister when the incident took place. Altogether 13 persons had died and about 200 sustained injuries in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are references in the name of Mr. Bhattacharjee in media reports published after the incident on whether a judicial enquiry be set up to probe the incident or not, \u201dhe said, adding \u201cin the light of evidences that has surfaced the Commission seems it fit to summon him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justice Chatterjee said the Commission had recorded the statements of a number of former Ministers of the previous government. Leaders of different political parties, including the chairperson of the Left Front Biman Bose had also deposed before the Commission, he said.
