across India will Monday stage a <strong>protest<\/strong> here demanding the government to pass the Disability <strong>Rights<\/strong> bill after incorporating the amendments demanded by rights groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bill in the current form is not just a negation of already-won rights and the recent judgment of the Supreme Court in the matter of jobs for people with disabilities but it militates against the UN Convention on <strong>Rights<\/strong> of Persons with Disabilities, which it claims to harmonise with,\u201d Javed Abidi, convenor of the Disabled <strong>Rights<\/strong> Group, told the media.<\/p>\n<p>Abidi said Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had announced that the bill will be introduced during the forthcoming session of parliament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut as the organisations working for the disabled found some loopholes in the content of the bill, they requested for the amendments,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had during the past one month been campaigning, demanding the tabling and passage of this bill, as the bill in the current form is unacceptable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>(Source:
