They will help me in my endeavor,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I appeared for lot of corporates. There won&#8217;t be any conflict of interest,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>His appointment comes a day after the country&#8217;s two top law officers Attorney General Goolam Essaji Vahanvati and Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran resigned, following the change in the government at the Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Since the tenure of law officers is co-terminus with that of the government, they tendered their resignations according to convention.<\/p>\n<p>The law officers &#8211; the Attorney General, the Solicitor General and Additional Solicitors Generals &#8211; represent the government in various courts and tender legal advice on complex issues.<\/p>\n<p>Speculation is rife that Ranjit Kumar is the frontrunner for the post of Solicitor General.<\/p>\n<p>(Source: PTI)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi has been appointed the new Attorney General of India, the top law officer of the country.
