He is the seniormost judge in the High Court,&#8221; Registrar General M J Thakkar of Gujarat High Court said.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Sahai, (61), started legal practice at the Allahabad High Court in Uttar Pradesh with his father Justice R M Sahai, who was later elevated as judge in the Supreme Court of India, the High Court website said.<\/p>\n<p>He practiced mainly on Civil writ and Taxation and appeared in a large number of important cases for UP Service Commission, UP State Road Transport Corporation and for various Insurance Corporations.<\/p>\n<p>He was elevated as the judge in Allahabad High Court on February 5, 1999, and later joined the Gujarat High Court on November 28, 2010, it added.<\/p>\n<p>The development came after Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya retired on September 26 from the Court.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya was enrolled as advocate on March 14, 1975 and was designated as a Senior Advocate on December 19, 1994, the Gujarat High Court website said.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Bhattacharya was appointed as the permanent judge of the Calcutta High Court on July 17, 1997, it said.<\/p>\n<p>He was transferred to the Gujarat High Court judge as the acting Chief Justice on November 8, 2011 and continued till he was elevated as the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court on July 21, 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Vijay Manohar Sahai will be the acting Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court after former Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya retired, a senior official of the Court said. &#8220;Justice V M Sahai will be the acting Chief Justice of the High Court at present.
