Goa, <\/span><a id=\"ms__id841\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/search?type=news&amp;q=Rajasthan\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Rajasthan <\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">and <\/span><a id=\"ms__id842\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/search?type=news&amp;q=Tripura\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Tripura <\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">legislatures have already ratified the bill. <br id=\"ms__id844\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id845\" \/> Gowda hoped that since winter sessions of state legislatures are lined up in coming days, the required number of ratifications could be completed soon. <br id=\"ms__id846\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id847\" \/> He said that according to media reports, <\/span><a id=\"ms__id848\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/search?type=news&amp;q=Gujarat\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Gujarat <\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Assembly has also ratified the legislation. <br id=\"ms__id849\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id850\" \/> &#8220;I have written to the Chief Ministers for ratification of the bill,&#8221; Gowda told reporters here today. <br id=\"ms__id851\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id852\" \/> <\/span><a id=\"ms__id853\" style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/search?type=news&amp;q=Parliament\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Parliament <\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">had in August cleared a Constitution amendment bill that will facilitate setting up of a commission for appointment of judges, replacing the 20-year-old collegium system, which has been under severe criticism. <br id=\"ms__id854\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id855\" \/> The process of ratification takes up to eight months. After ratification, government will send it to the President for his assent. <br id=\"ms__id856\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id857\" \/> The bill will make way for the setting up of National Judicial Appointments Commission, which will appoint and transfer judges to the Supreme Courts and the 24 High Courts. <br id=\"ms__id858\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id859\" \/> Passage of the bill will pave the way for replacing the collegium system of judges choosing judges. <br id=\"ms__id860\" \/> <br id=\"ms__id861\" \/> The bill will grant Constitutional status to the NJAC and its composition. Chief Justice of India will head the NJAC. Besides the CJI, the judiciary would be represented by two senior judges of the Supreme Court.
