{"id":36206,"date":"2014-12-13T18:07:46","date_gmt":"2014-12-13T12:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=36206"},"modified":"2014-12-13T18:07:46","modified_gmt":"2014-12-13T12:37:46","slug":"cyril-shroff-affidavit-deadline-extended-31-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/cyril-shroff-affidavit-deadline-extended-31-december","title":{"rendered":"Cyril Shroff affidavit deadline extended to 31 December"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The deadline for the affidavit that was due to be filed by Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai managing partner Cyril Shroff in the Bombay high court dispute with his brother over their late mother\u2019s equity in the firm, has been extended by the court to 31 December 2014, coinciding with the deadline set for the close of mediation talks between the two brothers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cyril\u2019s affidavit was due to be filed within three weeks of the \u2018black Tuesday\u2019 Bombay high court hearing of 18 November, in the case that was brought by his brother.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cyril\u2019s senior counsel Iqbal Chagla had told the court that the affidavit would show Shardul\u2019s \u201cdeep involvement\u201d in their mother\u2019s will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is understood that this would have made the allegation that Shardul exerted undue influence over the mother, whose will disinherited Cyril and his side of the family entirely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Shardul\u2019s counsel P Chidambaram had read out large parts of the mother\u2019s will and codicil in open court, including allegations of her having been neglected by Cyril and his family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mediations are currently ongoing between the two brothers, headed by investment banker &amp;
