{"id":36583,"date":"2015-01-20T00:16:20","date_gmt":"2015-01-19T18:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=36583"},"modified":"2015-01-20T00:16:20","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T18:46:20","slug":"scratches-uber-rape-victims-neck-suggest-strangulationdoc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/scratches-uber-rape-victims-neck-suggest-strangulationdoc","title":{"rendered":"Scratches on Uber rape victim&#8217;s neck suggest strangulation:Doc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A doctor, who had examined the victim in the Uber cab rape case after the incident, today told a Delhi court that scratch marks were found on her neck showing an attempt was made to strangulate her.<br id=\"ms__id813\" \/><br id=\"ms__id814\" \/><\/strong>Deposing as a prosecution witness, Dr Kaveri of Bara Hindu Rao Hospital said the 25-year-old woman was brought to her on the evening of December 6 last year for a second medical opinion as she was already examined by another doctor.<br id=\"ms__id815\" \/><br id=\"ms__id816\" \/>During her examination by special public prosecutor Atul Shrivastava, the doctor told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that scratch marks were found on the victim&#8217;s neck, while other injuries found on her body were already mentioned in the medical report prepared by the other doctor earlier.<br id=\"ms__id817\" \/><br id=\"ms__id818\" \/>On being asked by the counsel for 32-year-old Shiv Kumar Yadav as to what was the nature of these scratch marks, the doctor said, &#8220;the said scratch marks suggested strangulation&#8221;.<br id=\"ms__id819\" \/><br id=\"ms__id820\" \/>She also said the redness found on the woman&#8217;s private parts was not due to some infection but because of the sexual assault on her.<br id=\"ms__id821\" \/><br id=\"ms__id822\" \/>During the day, the court also recorded statements of four other witnesses, including Dr Jitendra Nigotia who had examined the accused after his arrest, and P N Singh, an official of Sheikh Sarai Transport authority which had issued driving licence to Yadav.<br id=\"ms__id823\" \/><br id=\"ms__id824\" \/>Witness Gaurav Thakral who had given his mobile handset and SIM card to the accused when they were working in the same company and Delhi Police Inspector Mahesh Kumar were also examined by the court.<br id=\"ms__id825\" \/><br id=\"ms__id826\" \/>The court has now summoned four witnesses, including three Delhi Police officials, for recording their testimonies tomorrow.<br id=\"ms__id827\" \/><br id=\"ms__id828\" \/>Dr Jitendra, who is working at Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, deposed before the court that Yadav was brought by the police for his medical examination on December 8, 2014 at 4 AM and he had examined him.<br id=\"ms__id829\" \/><br id=\"ms__id830\" \/>He said multiple abrasions (scratch marks) were found on Yadav&#8217;s face which could have been caused by nails.<br id=\"ms__id831\" \/><br id=\"ms__id832\" \/>The court had earlier recorded the statement of the victim in the case and she had identified Yadav as the one who had raped her on the night of December 5, 2014 when she had hired the cab and was returning home in west Delhi&#8217;s Inderlok area<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A doctor, who had examined the victim in the Uber cab rape case after the incident, today told a Delhi court that scratch marks were found on her neck showing an attempt was made to strangulate her.Deposing as a prosecution witness, Dr Kaveri of Bara Hindu Rao Hospital said the 25-year-old woman was brought to [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":36545,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[84],"tags":[31261,31262,30820],"class_list":["post-36583","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-criminal-law-news","tag-dr-kaveri-of-bara-hindu-rao-hospital","tag-scratches-on-uber-rape-victims-neck","tag-uber-cab-rape-case"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Scratches on Uber rape victim&#039;s neck suggest strangulation:Doc - Legal News India - Supreme Court &amp;
