{"id":36773,"date":"2015-02-06T22:38:54","date_gmt":"2015-02-06T17:08:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=36773"},"modified":"2015-02-06T22:38:54","modified_gmt":"2015-02-06T17:08:54","slug":"court-orders-seizure-collectorate-furniture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/court-orders-seizure-collectorate-furniture","title":{"rendered":"Court orders seizure of Collectorate furniture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taking serious view of non- payment of Rs 2.5 lakh compensation awarded eight years ago to the widow of a man murdered in the court complex here, a court today ordered seizure of the furniture of the district Collectorate.<\/p>\n<p>Sub-Judge Selvakumari ordered the distraint proceedings as the District Collector did not pay the compensation awarded by the court in 2005 to the wife of Kulandaivelu, who was killed by a gang in 1995 when he was brought to a court in the complex in connection with a murder case.<\/p>\n<p>His wife had filed a petition seeking compensation from the government on the ground that police and the administration failed to provide proper security to him.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said that even after eight years, the government did not care to implement the court order and ordered seizure of the furniture of the collectorate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taking serious view of non- payment of Rs 2.5 lakh compensation awarded eight years ago to the widow of a man murdered in the court complex here, a court today ordered seizure of the furniture of the district Collectorate.
