A court here has acquitted a man of the charge of raping a girl on the false pretext of marriage after noting that the victim had turned hostile.<\/p>\n
Additional Sessions Judge Sidharth Sharma let off a Delhi resident in the case as it also noted that the girl deposed before the court that she and the accused are now married and living together.<\/p>\n
“Keeping in view the testimony of material witness, i.e., girl and the fact that she herself has not confirmed the commission of alleged offences by the accused, I am of the considered opinion that prosecution has failed to prove the charges against the accused and therefore, he is entitled for acquittal,” the court said.<\/p>\n
According to the prosecution, the girl had claimed in her complaint that she was in a love affair with the accused and he made physical relations with her repeatedly on the pretext of marriage and due to which she got pregnant.<\/p>\n
However, later accused refused the to marry her, she claimed in the FIR registered on February 17, 2014, alleging that the accused committed rape upon her several times at different places.<\/p>\n
Thereafter, accused was arrested and a charge sheet was filed against him.<\/p>\n
