Mr Nasiar said that they have decided to hold a protest march till Parliament on May 1. He said that the advocates have urged the Central government should re-table the bill for pecuniary jurisdiction of Rs 2 crore for district courts of Delhi in ongoing Budget Sessions.<\/p>\n<p>R.K. Wadhwa, chairman of the committee, said on Monday that they convened a special meeting and decided that the ongoing strike would continue till May 2.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers of all six district courts \u2014 Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Karkardooma, Rohini, Saket and Dwarka have been observing strike since April 22 against the delay in enhancing the pecuniary jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>The strike of the lawyers has slowed down work in all district courts. The magistrates had to defer hearings after the counsel did not appear in any matter for the arguments. However, in some special cases related to the CBI, ED and Income-Tax Department, proxy lawyers appeared before the courts.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers\u2019 body said that full bench of the Delhi high court had recommended to the Central government that pecuniary jurisdiction of trial courts here be enhanced from existing Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 crore, but nothing has been done till date.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers have been demanding enchantment in pecuniary jurisdictions of the lower courts for two years.
