Injured victim remained in hospital for months because of the impact of crime,&#8221; the judge said.<\/p>\n<p>The court, while relying on the witnesses&#8217; statements, also noted that the motive of the accused to commit the crime was to force Vineet to hand over the papers of his car to them as they wanted to purchase it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hitting the injured on head with stone causing grievous injuries to Vineet on face and other parts of body make both accused persons liable under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>The court also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on each of the convicts with a direction that out of the total fine, Rs 1.75 lakh be released to the victim as compensation.<\/p>\n<p>The court also rejected the alibi taken by the Nathu, who had claimed that he was on police duty in Model Town here at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>It also rejected the contention of the accused that they were falsely implicated by the victim and his family because they wanted to grab Nathu&#8217;s property, saying the victim would not get himself injured so badly just to implicate the accused.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No ordinary person like injured Vineet can think of grabbing the property of accused knowing fully well that Nathu is employed in Delhi Police as constable,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>According to prosecution, Vineet was hit by a stone on the night of October 8, 2008 by the cop and his brother and received grave head injuries.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken to a hospital where he remained unconscious for over six months, it said, adding that the duo was handed over to police by victim&#8217;s father who was an eye-witness.<\/p>\n<p>During the trial, Virender, who works at Nasha Mukti Kendras to guide people against intoxication, and Nathu had claimed that they were innocent and had already spent considerable time in jail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 53-year-old Delhi Police constable and his brother have been sentenced to five years in jail by a court here for trying to kill a 35-year-old man, who became physically disabled after they hit him with a stone.
