Case against RJD MLA for religious conversion bid<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A complaint case was filed in a local court against RJD MLA Akhtarul Islam Sahin and others for allegedly trying to convert a dalit youth forcefully.<\/p>\n

The MLA’s associates assaulted the youth, Raja Paswan, when he refused to change his religion, according to the complaint case filed by the youth’s mother in the court of Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate of Samastipur.<\/p>\n

Paswan was also implicated in false cases and sent to jail where he is still languishing, the complainant said.<\/p>\n

The case will be heard on Monday.<\/p>\n

The incident had occurred around a month ago but a video showing the assault on the youth by some people went viral today.<\/p>\n

When contacted, the MLA denied that he tried to convert the youth forcefully.<\/p>\n

He claimed the youth had criminal antecedent and he was jailed for being involved in a clash with some people.<\/p>\n

The family has cooked up the story of religious conversion to get him out of jail, the RJD MLA said.<\/p>\n
