Dharmadhikari this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">The makers of the film are said to have been asked by the review committee of the censor board to remove all references to Punjab and make 89 cuts. Mr. Kashyap, however, said they are waiting for an \u201cofficial letter\u201d from the board on the issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">The Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh starrer movie that delves into how the youth in Punjab have succumbed to drugs has also unleashed political sparring prompting Mr. Kashyap to ask parties to stay away from the censorship row.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">Punjab goes to polls next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">Mr. Kashyap had on Tuesday hit out at censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani, calling him \u201coligarch\u201d and \u201cdictator\u201d and that it was like living in North Korea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">He got the support of several filmmakers, including Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt, Ram Gopal Varma and Mukesh Bhatt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">\u201cIt is a dark day for freedom of expression and creativity in the country,\u201d Mukesh Bhatt said, calling Nihalani a \u201cstooge\u201d of the government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">The \u201cBombay Velvet\u201d director took to Twitter to vent his ire at censor board and said there is no sense of freedom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">\u201cI always wondered what it felt like to live in North Korea&#8230; <i>Ab to plane pakadney ki bhi zaroorat nahin<\/i>&#8230;,\u201d Mr. Kashyap posted on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body\">\u201cI request Congress, AAP and other political parties to stay out of my battle. It\u2019s my Rights vs the Censorship.
