{"id":4398,"date":"2010-02-24T16:26:08","date_gmt":"2010-02-24T10:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=4398"},"modified":"2010-02-24T16:26:08","modified_gmt":"2010-02-24T10:56:08","slug":"court-asks-police-to-hasten-anoushka-shankar-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/court-asks-police-to-hasten-anoushka-shankar-case","title":{"rendered":"Court asks police to hasten Anoushka Shankar case"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"TixyyLink\">\n<p>Delhi Police Wednesday filed a chargesheet in a city court against the man who allegedly blackmailed sitar player Anoushka Shankar, daughter of maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar.<br \/>\nMumbai-based businessman Junaid Khan was slapped with charges of extortion under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Information Technology Act as Delhi Police filed the chargesheet in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja.<\/p>\n<p>Junaid was arrested by the Special Cell in Mumbai Sep 14 for allegedly demanding money from Anoushka after obtaining her private photographs by hacking her emails.<\/p>\n<p>The court will now hear the chargesheet Nov 13.<\/p>\n<p>Delhi Police had also issued Letters Rogatory to US authorities seeking assistance from judicial authorities there to help in collection of evidence in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Anoushka\u2019s email ID was allegedly hacked by Junaid between May 11 and Sep 14.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring interrogation, Junaid disclosed that he forwarded emails, including private photographs of Anoushka, to her ID but later deleted them,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>The accused, who claims to be a sub-dealer in a share trading firm in Mumbai, has been in judicial custody following his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug 8, a senior Home Ministry official had sent a letter to the police on a complaint by Pandit Ravi Shankar stating that his daughter was being harassed and blackmailed saying that some material, including her pictures, were stolen from her laptop, which she had submitted to a south Delhi-based service centre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delhi Police Wednesday filed a chargesheet in a city court against the man who allegedly blackmailed sitar player Anoushka Shankar, daughter of maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar.
