{"id":4762,"date":"2010-03-20T14:19:30","date_gmt":"2010-03-20T08:49:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=4762"},"modified":"2010-03-20T14:19:30","modified_gmt":"2010-03-20T08:49:30","slug":"honour-killing-court-pulls-up-sahibabad-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/honour-killing-court-pulls-up-sahibabad-police","title":{"rendered":"Honour killing: Court pulls up Sahibabad police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Delhi High Court Friday pulled up the Uttar Pradesh Police for not submitting the report of a lie-detector test conducted on family members of Sahibabad girl Monika Dagar, who was allegedly killed for marrying against the wishes of her family.<\/p>\n<p>A bench headed by Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Ajit Bharihoke asked police to submit the report related to the alleged honour killing by March 27.<\/p>\n<p>The court was angry over granting of bail to the alleged accused despite filing of the chargesheet against them.<\/p>\n<p>The bench had on Nov 17 last year sought response from police and the state home secretary on why a murder charge was not framed against the victim&#8217;s family members as the case prima facie seemed to be an honour killing.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Sahibabad police had registered a kidnapping case on a complaint by Monika&#8217;s brother.<\/p>\n<p>Police had later recovered the girl from her husband Gaurav Saini&#8217;s house in the national capital and arrested him. After getting her medically examined and recording her statement before a magistrate, police had handed over Monika to her mother and brother.<\/p>\n<p>Saini moved the high court after being granted bail.
