Mukhopadhaya and Justice Akil Kureshi issued notices Monday and sought replies from the state and the corporations about the number of seats in each ward and the provisions for voting.<\/p>\n<p>Yatin Oza, counsel for the petitioner, said Tuesday that the court issued notices on their plea that municipal elections were being conducted in a haphazard and improper manner.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner submitted that three persons are elected as representatives of one single ward. He said that only one representative should be elected from one ward as per the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In Ahmedabad city corporation, there are 192 seats from which representatives are elected to manage the civic affairs in 64 wards, the petitioner claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The court issued notices to the corporations and fixed the case for hearing on May 6.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0The Gujarat High Court has questioned the state government and six municipal corporations over a petition challenging the process followed in civic election.
