He was sentenced to seven-year imprisonment by a lower court for raping a minor girl. <\/p>\n<p>The court asked Singh to furnish a bond of Rs.5,000 and a surety of the same amount for his release. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Mridul said: &#8216;The prisoner (Singh) is reported to be terminally <\/p>\n<p>ill and suffering <\/p>\n<p>from what is commonly termed as an incurable disease. In these circumstances, it is directed that the appellant to be released on bail.&#8217; <\/p>\n<p>The bail order came in the wake of a 2007 court order in which it said undertrials who were terminally ill could be released on bail on humanitarian grounds. <\/p>\n<p>A medical report was filed by the jail authorities in court said that Singh has been suffering from chronic liver disease. <\/p>\n<p>In April last year, a city court sentenced Singh to seven-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1,000 for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2008<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Delhi High Court Tuesday granted bail to a rape convict who has been suffering from an &#8216;incurable&#8217; liver disease since last May.
