NEW DELHI:\u00a0The Supreme Court on Thursday\u00a0refused to interfere in the decision of the Centre and\u00a0rejected the plea to stop the deportation of seven Rohingya\u00a0immigrants to Myanmar from Assam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During hearing of the plea, which was filed on Wednesday, the Central Government told the top court that Myanmar has accepted the Rohingyas as their citizens and have agreed to take them back.\u00a0The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice\u00a0Ranjan Gogoi\u00a0rejected the plea saying that the seven were\u00a0found as illegal immigrants by the court earlier and that Myanmar is also ready to accept them as their nationals.\u00a0 \u201cWe are not inclined to interfere on the decision taken,\u201d the apex court said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These Rohingyas were detained by police from Cachar Central Jail in Assam’s Silchar district where they were under detention since 2012.\u00a0The application was filed by one Jaffarullah, who said Rohingyas should not be deported under any kind of duress as they have migrated due to “genocide” in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a Home Ministry official, these Rohingyas will be handed over to Myanmar authorities at Moreh border post in Manipur.\u00a0Earlier, they were lodged in the Silchar Detention centre in Assam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
