\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NEW DELHI:\u00a0The Supreme Court, while affirming the conviction of a bank\u2019s peon accused of corruption,\u00a0has observed that the\u00a0courts must ensure\u00a0 same inspires confidence and was corroborated by other prosecution evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Extra-judicial confession is a weak piece of evidence and the court must ensure that the same inspires confidence and is corroborated by other prosecution evidence the top court said.\u00a0If the court is satisfied that if the confession is voluntary, the conviction can be based upon the same said the apex court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bench comprising\u00a0justices R Banumathi and Indira Banerjee said\u00a0\u00a0the trial court and the Himachal Pradesh High Court had concurrently held in the case that the confession statements were made voluntarily and it could form the basis for conviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Supreme Court, while affirming the conviction of a bank\u2019s peon\u00a0convicted in the case based on his confessional statements submitted to two senior officials of the bank said\u00a0Rule of Prudence does not require that each and every circumstance mentioned in the confession with regard to the participation of the accused
