{"id":56625,"date":"2019-07-06T14:39:25","date_gmt":"2019-07-06T09:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/?p=56625"},"modified":"2019-07-06T14:39:25","modified_gmt":"2019-07-06T09:09:25","slug":"high-court-judge-recuses-from-hearing-jet-airways-founder-naresh-goyals-plea-against-loc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/high-court-judge-recuses-from-hearing-jet-airways-founder-naresh-goyals-plea-against-loc","title":{"rendered":"High Court  judge recuses from hearing Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal&#8217;s plea against LOC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Delhi High Court judge recused himself on Friday from hearing Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal&#8217;s plea challenging a look out circular (LOC) issued against him barring him from travelling outside the country.<\/p>\n<p>When the matter came up for hearing before Justice Vibhu Bakhru, he said that &#8220;this matter will have to go before another bench&#8221; and directed that it be listed before another judge on July 9.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, however, did not give any reasons for recusing from the matter.<\/p>\n<p>According to Goyal&#8217;s plea, the LOC was issued against him on the request of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) which comes under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/download-63.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" data-attachment-id=\"56626\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/high-court-judge-recuses-from-hearing-jet-airways-founder-naresh-goyals-plea-against-loc\/download-63\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/download-63.jpg?fit=259%2C194&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"259,194\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"download (63)\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/download-63.jpg?fit=259%2C194&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-56626\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/download-63.jpg?resize=259%2C194&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/download-63.jpg?w=259&amp;ssl=1 259w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/download-63.jpg?resize=134%2C100&amp;ssl=1 134w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><\/a>He has sought quashing of the LOC as well as several office memorandums which lay down the guidelines for issuing the travel ban.<\/p>\n<p>Goyal said he came to know of the LOC on May 25 when he and his wife, Anita, were offloaded from a flight to Dubai with an onward connection to London.<\/p>\n<p>He has contended that no ECIR\/FIR has been registered against him and he has not been named as an accused in any case warranting issuance of the LOC.<\/p>\n<p>According to the MCA, the LOC was issued after an inspection by the ministry found large-scale irregularities at Jet Airways, which shuttered operations in April due to acute cash crunch.<\/p>\n<p>Naresh and Anita Goyal had resigned from the board of Jet Airways, which the former founded 26 years ago, in March following a debt restructuring plan.<\/p>\n<p>He had also resigned as the airline&#8217;s chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Jet Airways is undergoing insolvency proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the ministry has also ordered a probe by SFIO into the affairs of Jet Airways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Delhi High Court judge recused himself on Friday from hearing Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal&#8217;s plea challenging a look out circular (LOC) issued against him barring him from travelling outside the country.
