The Delhi High Court Monday questioned the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on allocation of seats to students in post-graduation courses.<\/p>\n
The vacation bench of Justice M.C. Garg directed the AIIMS to explain by June 30 as to how the all-India level seats were allocated.<\/p>\n
The court was hearing a petition filed by Varun Kumar Agarwal who had alleged that despite his qualification he was not called for counselling for the course in surgery. He alleged the allotment of seats was illegal and arbitrary.<\/p>\n
Agarwal also alleged that students who had already taken admission in other colleges were called by the AIIMS for counselling.<\/p>\n
These students took admission here and later vacate the seats held by them in other colleges, he alleged, claiming this practice was against the law.<\/p>\n
‘Let the AIIMS explain as to how seven seats of surgery were allocated to students,’ the court said<\/p>\n
The court said the explanation should also include a clarification that the institute has not admitted any student who had already taken admission in another college.<\/p>\n
According to Agarwal, the AIIMS is wasting nearly 20 seats, mainly in other colleges, every year because of this malpractice.<\/p>\n
The AIIMS said there was no malpractice in admissions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
