Former President A P J Abdul Kalam exhorted the legal community to come up with practical solutions to ensure speedy justice to all.<\/p>\n
Interacting with members of Mysore Bar Association and the citizens, he said even though the judiciary was trying its best to clear the backlog, large number of court cases were still pending for decades.<\/p>\n
About the recent judicial judgement on Bhopal Gas tragedy which took 26 years, he said this calls for a relook at our laws.<\/p>\n
Delayed justice loses its impact. Children who lost their family, families which lost their earning members, thousands who were injured and permanently disabled and lakhs who were grief– stricken over the loss of their loved ones in the 26 years, would have lost an opportunity to recover, he said.<\/p>\n
It raises a question \u2018why should the speed of justice be proportional to volume of wealth or stature of the aggrieved? A developed India would be possible only when we are able to provide timely aid to those aggrieved, regardless of their social or economic stature, he said.<\/p>\n
Dr. Kalam said for a speedy delivery of justice, the Judges, lawyers and support staff in courts as well as the litigants have all to become accountable for their actions.<\/p>\n
It is a good practice to get a number of cases cleared by a particular Judge known to the public, through the internet, he said.<\/p>\n
