Students from various universities in the capital would hold a protest at Jantar Mantar July 4 against the ongoing issue of caste-based census and instead seek a census based on financial status of people.<\/p>\n

Students from the Delhi University, Delhi Technological University and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have started a movement ‘Meri Jaati Hindustani’ to protest caste-based census.<\/p>\n

‘We want the census to be based on financial status rather than caste as it will give a figure of people living below poverty line. We will also submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office,’ said Surendra Tyagi, a member of the movement.<\/p>\n

The group is working closely with ‘Sabal Bharat’, another group with the same cause. It consists of former civil servants, politicians, scientists, artists, industrialists and journalists.<\/p>\n
