A Gujarat court sentenced a policeman to life imprisonment for burning alive a man who admonished the cop for extorting money from a bootlegger.<\/p>\n
Additional sessions judge D.T. Soni sentenced constable Haribhai Patel to life imprisonment and also ordered him to pay Rs.15,000 to the wife of the victim.<\/p>\n
The court also directed the public prosecutor B.S. Patel to forward a copy of the judgement which carries strictures against the police to the Ahmedabad police commissioner.<\/p>\n
Hasmukh Parmar, 35, had asked the policeman not to extort money from the bootlegger. The enraged policeman slapped Parmar and then returned with a can of kerosene and set the victim on fire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
