Emphasising the need for changes in the Indian copyright amendment bill 2010, Justice Dalveer Bhandari of the Supreme Court Saturday said it is necessary to stop unauthorised use of original work.<\/p>\n
“The copyright bill needs to be more balanced with equal or right share given to the authors as well as the stake-holders,” he said.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a discussion on “Content in transition – Regulatory and Economic Perspective”, Justice Bhandari said: “Unauthorised use of the original work should be stopped, as modern technology can create havoc if it is not brought under law. Respect for the genuine work is a must.”<\/p>\n
“With the bill focused on Bollywood, we need to take into consideration all the authors and creators from other states,” he added.<\/p>\n
Organised by a copyright research group, the discussion addressed the implications of the bill and the monetisation of the intellectual property rights for the creative fraternity, investors and producers.<\/p>\n
Additional Solicitor General Parag Tripathi said: “The bill should consider the plea of all the three stake-holders namely authors, producers and the audience.”<\/p>\n
