Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaisingh Friday took exception to the use of word ‘keep’ in a Supreme Court judgment.<\/p>\n
She told the apex court bench of Justice Markandey Katju and T.S. Thakur that use of highly derogatory words for describing women was not expected from the judges of the apex court.<\/p>\n
The additional solicitor general said she will move the court for expunging the word in a judgment the bench delivered Thursday.<\/p>\n
In its judgment Thursday, the bench said that not all live-in arrangements entitle women to maintenance under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.<\/p>\n
‘If a man has a ‘keep’, whom he maintains financially and uses her mainly for sexual purpose and\/or as a servant, it would not, in our opinion, be a relationship in the nature of marriage,’ the judges observed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
