{"id":9041,"date":"2011-02-19T15:51:30","date_gmt":"2011-02-19T10:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=9041"},"modified":"2011-02-19T15:51:30","modified_gmt":"2011-02-19T10:21:30","slug":"kalmadis-aide-businessman-sent-to-judicial-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/kalmadis-aide-businessman-sent-to-judicial-custody","title":{"rendered":"Kalmadi&#8217;s aide, businessman sent to judicial custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Delhi court on Saturday sent former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi&#8217;s aide Shekhar Deorukhkar and businessman Binu Nanu to judicial custody in Tihar Jail till March 05 in connection with irregularities in contracts for the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG).<\/p>\n<p>Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge OP Saini sent Deorukhkar and Nanu to judicial custody till March 05. The CBI did not seek any further police custody of the two.<\/p>\n<p>Deorukhkar was arrested on February 11 from Pune and was sent to CBI remand a day later for five days. His remand was then extended by two more days.<\/p>\n<p>CBI contended before the court that Deorukhkar and VK Verma &#8212; DG of the Organising Committee at that time &#8212; have caused huge loss to the exchequer by awarding contracts to the companies M\/s Mero Form Indian Pvt Ltd (France), M\/s GL events Pvt Ltd, M\/s PICO Deepali overlays consortium (New Delhi), M\/s Nussli (Switzerland), and M\/s ESAJV:D Art Indo consortium at exorbitant rates.
