A Delhi court Friday rejected the bail plea of a woman who was arrested for allegedly torturing and illegally confining her teenaged domestic help in her house at Vasant Kunj, in south Delhi.
Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash dismissed the bail plea of the accused 50-year-old Vandana Dhir, who is under judicial custody.
A sessions court had Oct 30 granted bail to Dorothy, who had arranged the maid for Dhir.
Dhir, who was working with a multinational firm in Noida, has been accused of assaulting her domestic help, beating her and branding her with a hot griddle.
The maid, who hails from Jharkhand, was also forced to drink her urine and was kept by Dhir in her Vasant Kunj house in a semi-naked condition, the victim said.
She was rescued by a joint team from non-governmental organisation Shakti Vahini and Delhi Police from Dhir’s residence on the evening of Sep 30.
Disturbed by her shrieks, neighbours informed the police.
A magisterial court had Oct 7 dismissed Dhir’s bail plea.
