A housewife hanged herself after being chided by husband for buying a new sari, the Chandanagar police said on Saturday.
Twenty-six-year-old Y. Satyavati, purchased a sari for Rs. 1,000 on Friday hoping to pay the money in instalments. Her husband, Madhava, working as cook with a catering agency, became furious saying it was beyond his budget for the month.
The cook went out after argument with his wife and returned 15 minutes later only to find Satyavati hanging from the ceiling with a sari tied around her neck. The couple hails from Kandukur of Prakasam district. They have a six-year-old daughter and three-year-old son.
