A Delhi court Friday sent director of the India operations of a Swiss company Sandeep Wadhwa, arrested in the Commonwealth Games overlays scam, to Tihar Jail till March 25.

‘The accused is remanded to 14 days of judicial custody till March 25,’ special judge O.P. Saini said, as the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) remand application sought Wadhwa, who had been interrogated in custody for four days, to be sent to jail as the probe vis-a-vis him was over.

Managing director of Comfort Net Traders India Pvt. Ltd, a part of Switzerland-based Nussli India Consortium, Wadhwa was brought before the court Friday after expiry of his four days’ police custody.

He was arrested on March 7 in connection with alleged irregularities in the award of contracts for overlays for over Rs.600 crore.

Nussli India was given a contract of nearly Rs.140 crore for supplying tents, portable cabins, containers and other items for six Games venues.

The company also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian unit of a Canadian company to supply steel-based modular fittings for six CWG venues, the CBI said.
